Tony Stevens Broadway dancer Tony Stevens began choreographing and directing very early in his career and has traveled the world creating high caliber productions, using his knowledge from assisting some of the greatest choreographers of the last century, BOB FOSSE, GOWER CHAMPION, PETER GENARRO, RON FIELD, and MICHAEL BENETT, as well as his special personal vision. He was the seminal influence for the project that became “A Chorus Line”. Familiar with all the various venues show business includes, Tony has directed productions ranging from RINGLING BROTHERS AND BARNUM AND BAILEYS GOLD edition for 2006- 2007, touring the United States and the Americas, to CHITA RIVERA’s one-woman cabaret show at FEINSTEINS in New York. His long relationship with Ms. Rivera has included many numbers created for her. In 2006, on Broadway, he recreated her signature "ALL THAT JAZZ" and "NOWADYS" for "CHITA: A DANCERS LIFE". Famous for working with the "Broadway Diva's", he directed “BETTY BUCKLEY AT CARNEGIE HALL”, which can be relived on the recording, directed ELAINE STRITCH for “The BROWARD CENTER TRIBUTE TO HAL PRINCE”, as well as the 2006 KENNEDY CENTER GALA with MARVIN HAMLISCH and the WASHINGTON SYMPHONY. Other performers who have engaged Tony's personal touch for their solo outings are BERNADETTE PETERS, DOLLY PARTON, JOEL GRAY, LIZA MINELLI, MARY TYLER MOORE, GENE KELLY, DICK VAN DYKE AND TOMMY TUNE to name a few.

Tony has directed/choreographed, the national tours of “TOMMY”, “JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR”, and “DREAMGIRLS” He has directed four productions of “CHICAGO”, two productions of “CABARET”, “THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN”, “SWEET CHARITY”, “GODSPELL”, “THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS” and “THE ELEPHANT MAN”, as well as countless other productions.

Tony received a DRAMA DESK AWARD for best direction and choreography in “GET HAPPY”, the HAROLD ARLEN review with DONNA MCKECHNIE and also won a CARBONELL AWARD for best choreography of “THE MUSIC MAN”, which was directed by CHARLES NELSON REILLY.

Tony’s television and film credits include: THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW, numerous PBS fund drives, THE GREAT GATSBY, JOHNNY DANGEROUSLY, The BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE In TEXAS, staged numbers for NATHAN LANE and MARTIN SHORT on LATE NIGHT with DAVID LETTERMAN, and many television specials featuring LUCILLE BALL, BETTE MIDLER and BEA ARTHUR and many others.

Tony directed Barbara Duffy & Company’s theatrical tap dance show “Stages”. He received a LUCILLE LORTEL nomination for best choreography; THE COMPLETE WORKS OF SHAKESPEARE. He is currently developing the new musical, LA FAMIGLIA.
